I work in Australia once a year from early July to early September.
Working from an office in the University of Sydney I see a small number of individuals for EMDR and occasionally couples therapy.
EMDR as a treatment can be done intensively, that means longer sessions of up to two to six hours offered daily or several times a week until the trauma memories are cleared. Early research suggests this can be the most effective way to clear single incident and complex trauma as the treatment is quicker, resulting in less prolonged distress.
For single incident trauma, an effective treatment can be delivered in as few as 6-12 sessions of 90 minutes each. For more complex trauma the treatment is usually longer.
I am Accredited EMDR Consultant with the Australian EMDR Association who have recognised my advanced skills and experience in EMDR therapy by awarding me the status of Consultant. I am also on their EMDRAA Board of Directors, advising on the policy and development of EMDR in Australia.
In 2020 I’ll be offering Advanced EMDR training for therapists in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth with Mark Brayne of EMDR Focus.
I also offer remote EMDR & therapy via skype and Vsee when I am in the UK.
